Common FAQs

How does IV therapy work?

IV Therapy works by infusing essential vitamins, minerals, and amino acids directly into the body via the intravenous route (into the veins) and directly into the bloodstream.
The advantage of administering nutrients via the IV route is that higher levels of nutrients can be introduced into the body than would not be possible or tolerable to take orally.
A vitamin drip treatment takes approximately 30-45 minutes, but can sometimes be faster or slower depending on the person. An NAD+ IV drip runs at a slower rate than our standard vitamin infusions and can take 1-3 hours.

Is IV therapy safe?

IV Therapy is generally safe under the supervision of your Drip IV registered nurse.
Our nurses safely administer drips following strict hygiene processes keeping risks to an absolute minimum.

What are the different types of IV therapy?

Drip IV offers many treatment options.
Our formulations have been developed specifically to support a healthy immune system, improve memory function, boost energy and improve athletic function and recovery.
Our clinic also offers custom treatments based on your health needs.
We also offer IM (intramuscular) booster shots in conjunction with IV drips depending on your wellness concerns and treatment plan.

Do I need to have a blood test to get a vitamin infusion?

Some people get blood tests to determine which nutrients they require topping up; however, this is not necessary for the majority of our treatments.
Our Registered Nurses provide free in-depth consultations to determine what your concerns are, and then recommend the best nutrients to address your concerns.

Do you offer iron infusions?

To have an iron infusion administered by a Drip IV registered nurse, you must have had one iron infusion previously.
We also require you to organise a blood test to check your iron levels.
When getting your iron infusion script from your GP following your blood test results, they will need to prescribe Ferinject.

Can I get an IV drip if I am breastfeeding?

If you are breastfeeding, you must express feed for 24-48 hours. If you do not want to express feed, you can ask your obstetrician for a letter of consent.

How long do the benefits last?

Since everyone’s body and health status are different, the nutrients are used at different speeds; and depending on the reason for getting the treatment, some people will require a weekly or fortnightly infusion, and for others, the nutrients can last up to 1-2 months.

Are there any negative side effects with IV drips?

Based on your medical conditions or health status, we will recommend the most suitable vitamins, minerals and amino acids to avoid unwanted side effects such as fatigue.
We will advise whether you may feel any side effects other than the beneficial effects.

How are Drip IV’s vitamins made?

Drip IV uses TGA-approved vitamins sourced within Australia - they are a mix of bioengineered and naturally-derived nutrients.
